Supporting Children & Families in the Foster Care system throughout Idaho
I D F A P A
Idaho Foster & Adoptive Parent Association ( IDFAPA) is a 501 (C)(3) non profit corporation whose mission is to improve care and support foster and adoptive children in the state of Idaho.
We support Children & Families in the Foster Care System throughout Idaho.
We provide resources to foster youth and their families. We seek to promote community education and awareness of issues and needs of foster and adoptive children and their families. We have a regional representative in each region of the state committed to giving the personal attention necessary for each area’s continuing growth.
All children in foster care have been exposed to some form of trauma. The very act of being put in foster care is traumatic for children, because it means the loss of their birth family and often friends, schoolmates, teachers, and everything that is familiar.
The need for foster homes is increasing every day in Idaho. There were 2,714 children living in foster care in Idaho during the state fiscal year of 2017. During this time Idaho had only 1,104 Licensed Foster Homes. (Familyrtc.org)
